Scottish Thistle Cufflinks
The prickly purple Scottish thistle was adopted as the Emblem of Scotland during the rein of Alexander III. Legend has it that an Army of King Haakon of Norway's men, tried to surprise the sleeping Scotch Clansmen. In order to move more stealthily during the night the Norsemen removed their footwear. One of Haakon's men stood on a Scottish thistle and shrieked out in pain, alerting the Clansmen. Needless to say the Scots won the day, cufflinks intact.
